The Application Process

The Application Process
Decision made, so what’s next? How to apply?
In EGP the Application process consists in some paperwork (plain forms), a few open answers and two Recommendation Letters. Gmat is not compulsory. Later on you have to attend to an interview with some MBA teachers.
I must say the process was fun. Building this dossier is somewhat like a milestone. You have to think a bit about what you are, what you have been doing lately and, above all, what do you want to do with your life in the short and medium term. I don’t know if this happens with everybody, but this process helped me to focus. I think that everything that makes you thing is helpful. That happened when creating my Curriculum vitae, I decided not to follow the standard CV and instead wrote a two pages text, a short story of my academic and professional life. It’s funny to fit some 20 years in two pages.
The most interesting part was answering the open questions:
- Analyse your career and discuss how the Executive MBA could help you achieving your personal goals
- Present a situation in which your leadership qualities were determinant achieving success and how the MBA can improve them
- What was your major failure till today and what did you learn from it
All three questions are interesting and forced me to reflect, but the first one was definitely the most interesting and important. I was mildly motivated to apply the MBA when started the process, but as I was answering the first question I was realising exactly what I need in the short term. And it was after writing the first text that I made my mind 100% towards this new challenge.
Good luck to me!
