My motivations

My motivations

It may sound a bit silly that someone over 30’s, happily married, with a good position on his company, with few time available, decides to go back to school. Pretty dumb, don’t you think? It looks like I am looking for troubles, enjoying riding on a bumpy road. Am I a masochist?

Well, it’s not what it seems! I am aware of the future costs of this program to me… and I am not only talking about the Euro 14 K that will all come out from my pockets (yes, there is no company sponsoring me, so I am REALLY crazy!). But I recognize the potential of this MBA, both in knowledge, networking and personal development terms. Now I will try to list the main upsides. I am sure the downsides will be described continuously in the months to come :-D

General Upsides

  • · The technical knowledge to be acquired.
  • · To know new trends in management skills.
  • · Networking process will allow me to meet new “valuable” people and learn with their own skills and experiences.
  • · Summing up, the EGP as a Business School.

Personal Upsides

  • · I expect to improve in some specific personal skills and knowledge: Leadership, Teamwork, Business Strategy, Logistics and Industrial Organization, Human Resources Management and Governance.
  • · It will be an intellectual personal challenge (and I really could use one now!).
  • · Intense study cadence will tend to improve my work and study capacity, decreasing the risk of stagnation in skills, methods and even of my career.
  • · My present company it’s a small one, so I need to be “pushed” by other people.
  • · It is very likely I am not fulfilling my potential…

So here I am, motivated and optimistic, hopefully aware of hard times coming ahead and with my family backing me up. I believe that a single error may have consequences for a long time, but also a good call can change your life! So let’s do it!
